HDB Approved Renovation Companies. Why You Should ONLY Engage an Approved Company?
Did you know that you could be fined up to $5,000 if you fail to engage a contractor from the Directory of Renovation Contractors (DRC)?
If you didn’t, then we’re glad you learned this important piece of information and prevent yourself from getting into trouble with the law.
As mentioned, HDB maintains a Directory of Renovation Contractors (DRC) and one of the reasons for doing is to protect consumers like yourself.
In order to be listed in the directory, renovation companies need to:
- Complete the Renovation for Public Housing training course
- Registered with ACRA for at least 1 year with a good track record and profitable
- Have directors who are NOT undischarged bankrupts or any criminal records
It’s not that easy to be listed in the directory and companies will also need to renew their licence every 2 years. Hence if your renovation company is listed, you’re making sure you are getting well trained and reputable contractors working on your home.
